It is a beautiful day here in Bristol. The sun is out shining and today, of course marks a solstice- Summer in the northern hemisphere and Winter in the southern.
The term solstice is believed to be derived from the Latin solstitium meaning ‘Sun stands still’ because the apparent movement of the Sun’s path north or south stops before changing direction.
Today also marks out the movement away from Gemini’s airy thoughtful, resourceful energy into Cancer (technically the Sun is in Cancer on the 22nd). Cancer is ruled by the moon, the “great mother” of the skies. Enjoy the maternal and emotional energy that may bring in to you. At the height of summer, why not take time out in nature this weekend and enjoy the sunshine, the natural world.
I note that this time last year, mercury went retrograde a few days later. This time we are already in a patch of mercurial mayhem. Still, Mercury retrograde is not all bad and often pleasant surprises spring up or important lessons are there to be learning from 😉
A pessimist might say it’s all downhill from here (I know someone who thinks like this!) as from herein the evenings will get shorter and the nights longer until the winter solstice. I think it marks a wonderful time of the year and let’s make the most of it, yeah?!! ENJOY!
